Frio Springs Lodge Donates School Supplies for Deserving Leakey ISD Students
Jessica Chisum and Leslie Rodriquez, arrived on the Leakey ISD campus Friday evening, August 21st and delivered several hundred dollars worth of school supplies purchased by Mr. Dick Mitchell, proprietor and owner of the Frio Springs Lodge. These ladies, who are good friends of Mr. Mitchell, made a trip to Uvalde earlier in the day and spent several hours shopping and purchasing these much needed school supplies. These donated supplies will be distributed to the parents of students who need assistance in securing the school supplies their children need for the new school year that started on Monday, August 24th.
This is the fourth year in a row that Mr. Mitchell has generously assisted Leakey Independent School District students in such a splendid way. In addition to dozens of beautiful new backpacks, Jessica and Leslie delivered notebook paper, pencils, pens, magic markers, notebooks, spirals, binders and everything else that was listed on the official Leakey ISD school supply list that was recently published in the Leakey Star.
Parents of eligible students are welcome to contact school registrar, Leanne Waligura and pick up these donated supplies. Students who qualify for free or reduced price meals through the Federal School Lunch Program will certainly qualify for these donated supplies. The school office is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Mrs. Waligura will be happy to assist you in selecting the supplies your child needs. In the photo above Mrs. Waligura sits beside a table filled with just a small portion of the donated school supplies which are currently being kept in a storeroom adjacent to her office.
Leakey ISD wants to again publicly thank Mr. Dick Mitchell and Frio Springs Lodge for this very generous and unselfish contribution to our students and families. We appreciate so much these splendid gifts! These donated school supplies will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis until the inventory is exhausted.
